Research topics and brief academic biography
I am a theoretical physicist who uses density functional theory to study the properties of magnetic materials and thin films. My research focuses on rare-earth free permanent magnets. I calculate their intrinsic properties, such as magnetic moments, magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy, and Curie temperature. I also study their stability by determining formation energies. I conduct my computational research mostly in collaboration with experimental groups as mutual support between computer modeling and experimentation leads to the best results and greatest progress.
From 2012 to 2015, I worked at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University in Sweden. Since 2015, I have been conducting research at the Institute of Molecular Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Poznań. Since 2017, I managed one project for the Foundation for Polish Science and three projects for the National Science Centre Poland. Currently, I am also the head of Department of Theory of Nanostructures and Quantum Materials at the Institute of Molecular Physics PAS.
