Poznań is the capital city of Wielkopolska - the western part of the country and the cradle of the Polish State. It is one of the oldest cities in Poland (IX century) with many well-preserved monuments of architecture. Poznań is a traditional location of international trade fairs and an important academic center. It is the home of the Institute of Molecular Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
