Venue

The XXII Polish-Czech Seminar on Structural and Ferroelectric Phase Transitions will be held in Hucisko, Poland, May 16-20, 2016. Hucisko is situated in the Kraków-Częstochowa Jurassic Upland, the part of the south central Poland Jurrasic System, stretching between the cities of Kraków in the south, Częstochowa in the north and Wieluń. It borders the Carpathian Mountains to the south and the highland of Central Poland to the north, toward the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. The region is attractive, both in terms of its geography and its history.

Ojców Ojców

Nearly the whole of the Jura is a protected area. The region boasts numerous Natural Parks and nature reserves like Smoleń and Góra Zborów as well as the Ojcowski National Park which lies in the most attractive part of Jura, the Prądnik River Valley. These reserves abound in amazing limestone formations and caves as well as being a habitat for rare protected species of plants and animals. The area also includes a stretch of desert, called the Błędowska Desert.

Ojców Trail of the Eagles' Nests

The Kraków-Częstochowa Jurassic Upland offers two trails, Jura’s Fortress Trail and Eagle’s Fortops Trail, with a line of castles and towers, including the castle in Piaskowa Skała, the ruined fortresses of Ojców, Rabsztyn, Bydlin, Smoleń, Ogrodzieniec, Morsko, Bobolice, Mirów, Ostreżnik and Olsztyn.
